Selecting a cleaning system

A number of factors must be considered when deriving the optimum cleaning process. These factors can be weighted very differently depending on the specific application under consideration.

Early in the process decisions must be made regarding the level of cleanliness required. Clearly this is not the same for plumbing fittings and semiconductors and can have a dramatic impact on cost.

Once this has been determined, process design must be sorted out. Following are a number of factors that should be considered:
  • Type of soil being removed
  • Aqueous process or solvent process
  • Materials of construction for the parts being cleaned
  • Part size and production volume
  • Part fixturing and handling through the process
  • Process control needs
  • SPC or data logging needs
Branson, through our direct sales force, applications laboratories and engineering resources can help you through this process.
